Trekking Nui Muoi – Chase Clouds & Sunrise Above the Ky Quan San Mountains

Nui Muoi is a scenic trekking destination along the Ky Quan San (Bach Moc Luong Tu) trekking route in Sang Ma Sao, Lao Cai Province. Located at an elevation of approximately 2,100m, Nui Muoi is known for its spectacular cloud seas, mountain sunsets and sunrises, surrounded by the rugged landscapes of Northwestern Vietnam.

Unlike the full Ky Quan San summit trek to 3,046m, the Nui Muoi route focuses more on nature, cloud hunting and enjoying the mountain scenery, without continuing to the summit. Along the way, trekkers pass through grass-covered slopes, bamboo forests, vầu forests and cardamom valleys before reaching the mountain campsite.

One of the highlights is the campsite itself. In the afternoon, you can watch the sunset over the mountains; at night, relax beneath the stars; and early the next morning, wake up to sunrise above a sea of clouds. When weather conditions are favorable, layers of white clouds stretch across the valleys like a vast ocean beneath the mountains.
